Miso Sick Soup Recipe

Mike returned from his business trip to Seattle with a lovely souvenir for me! A raging cold! While being under the weather has allowed me to feel justified in my decision to sprinkle I Dream of Jeannie episodes in between work, this morning I simply luxuriated in my bed. Here is a photo from that time:

Monocled Miss

What’s on my sick person’s tray you might ask? These magical liquids! Not feeling up to the task of hoofing it to the store, I threw together this simple soup that totally calmed my sore throat, and washed it down with a soothing oolong. This soup is so easy you can make it even when your feverish brains are turning to mush!

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 presetMiso Sick Soup:

4 C. Boiling Water

2 Chicken Bullion Cubes

1 1/2 Tbs. Soy Sauce

1 tsp. White Pepper

Ikea Hack: Balcony Herb Garden

When you live in a city, space is at a premium. I suppose Angelenos might have a little more space to move around than our Yankee friends, but we all have to work with what we’ve got, until we move to the valley and trade in our balconies and hip corner bars for patches of grass and dirty liquor stores.  Ahhh, The American Dream! So until I till my own land and tend to the rabbits, I cooked up this little Ikea hack and planted a luscious balcony garden! Say goodbye to herbs slowly rotting away in their produce bags. Yes, I am now the proud owner of a thriving herb and lime colony!  I’ve got herb-y salads and sauces on repeat around here. And it makes such a happy cocktail spot! Our lime tree has yet to produce a lime, but you bet your buttons that when it does I’m having you over for margaritas!

Digging This: Thuss + Farrell

Since I can remember, I’ve had an affinity for paper goods. Not just notebooks and stationary, more like good-ies, made from paper a la Claes Oldenburg. (Stop what you are doing and acquaint or reacquaint yourself with his work right now.) So when I saw that this husband and wife design duo’s portfolio was filled with paper and fabric fancies, my heart skipped a beat! (In part because my dream is to be one half of a husband wife duo, which from the look of disgust on Mikey’s face when I suggest this will never happen, even though, yes, I am his muse.) Feast your eyes! But probably not your mouth…

Lady Cocktail: Watermelon Daiquiri

Happy Monday! I’ve been out galavanting around England and Scotland with Mr. Darcy (a.k.a Mike) as of late, but before we left I soaked up my last bit of LA sun with five a couple rounds of these!

Titilating Titles: The Seven Year Itch

These come from the Titan of Titles; Saul Bass.  Cards flap, pop and flash across the screen in a color palate of tan, red, orange, yellow, pink, black and white. Prettier than a Mondrian painting!
